French Artist Gildas Loyant Captures the Energy of His Adopted Home of Guadeloupe with Paintings on Display at Agora Gallery in The French Perspective Exhibition
Working in a color palette dually reminiscent of West African textiles and of the Caribbean landscape, Loyant's intriguing portraits hint at the multifaceted history that continues to form and shape the Caribbean identity.
NEW YORK, NY, May 20, 2009 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Agora Gallery is pleased to present The French Perspective, an exhilarating survey of contemporary art from France. There is a remarkable variety of styles represented in this exhibition, truly profound works that delve into humanity's deepest creative roots. Some of these talented artists are tremendous painters and sculptors while others explore experimental techniques and new media. Art lovers will undoubtedly be enamored by this selection of works from our neighbors across the Atlantic.
The Caribbean is perhaps best known for its beautiful beaches, lush scenery and tropical weather, but it is equally important for its unique blend of cultures and people from ethnically diverse backgrounds. With an inquisitive eye and genuine appreciation for Caribbean heritage, French artist, Gildas Loyant, captures the unmistakable energy of his adopted home of Guadeloupe with a vibrant sense of color and purity of form. Loyant's geometrically simplified, yet entirely representational digital prints of island women convey the artist's deep respect and admiration for their physical beauty and cultural complexity. Born in Brittany, France, Gildas Loyant enjoyed considerable success as an art director for one of France's largest advertising agencies, but for the past 25 years has lived and worked on the French-Caribbean island of Guadeloupe.
