Katherine Winkelman Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals
Winkelman is devoted to passing down Italian heritage and culture to the younger generation
LOS GATOS, CA, September 4, 2009 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Katherine Winkelman, Owner of Gioia Company, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in fine arts.
Before becoming the owner of Gioia Company, Mrs. Winkelman worked for CASA for 20 years and was the president for four years. She then decided to open up Gioia Company, a retail, wholesale and Internet business that features Italian heritage fine arts and products. The company conducts art presentations for Italian heritage groups and organizations in Northern and Southern California. Gioia also features the works of Venetian mask maker Carla Alamanza deQuant. Due to her extensive experience in the non-profit arena, Mrs. Winkelman is a great networker and project planner. She lived in Italy for one year and was a travel agent for eight years. She partners with other women entrepreneurs to promote their businesses as well as hers. The oldest of eight children in a large Italian family, she always wanted to have her own business and work with Italian artists. She attributes her success to her desire to excel and ability to manage her business successfully in the current economy.
A graduate of Santa Clara University, Mrs. Winkelman received her MBA in 1976 and her Bachelor of Arts in History with a concentration in Renaissance history and early American history in 1974. She is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Italian American Heritage Foundation and the Italian Historical Society of America. In her spare time, she also supports the Little Italy Project of San Jose, the Catala Club at Santa Clara University and the Casa Los Gatos, Global Women's Leadership Network.
