Barbara M. Fleming Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals

In her book 'The Backwards Buddhist', Barbara M. Fleming sets out to discover a self-authenticated path to freedom

Camden, ME, December 3, 2009 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Author Barbara M. Fleming has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in her multifaceted career.

Barbara M. Fleming won several first place awards as an artist. She has also been a library director in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. While pursing an MBA at a major college, she decided to drop out after finding it basically incompatible with the concept of ethical behavior. Following this, she chose to share some of the accumulated tales and rites of passage marking a long and varied career. Her diverse experiences included intellectual pursuits interspersed with periods of work including everything from apple picking alongside full-time migrant workers for whom she gained boundless respect and gratitude to working in the Pentagon as well as public libraries of diverse populations, to building her own business, to teaching herself to paint.

Following a life filled with moves and resettlements, she made her home along Maine's coast. Her career spanned positions as a government employee, public librarian, art teacher, artist, student and seeker. Upon graduation from motherhood, she focused on self-development and became a student of eastern philosophy, giving her a vantage point in order to write her book 'The Backwards Buddhist.' The breadth of experience she gained helped her to bring her characters to life within the pages of her book. This is the first of a series of what may come to be very personal adventure tales.

Ms. Fleming attributes her success to having the opportunity to study with Tibetan masters and gaining valuable personal experience with which she can help others develop and discover their own purpose in life. She teaches that there are different ways and perspectives to view ideas other than what is traditionally taught. In life, success and money are not always the bottom line.

She received a Master of Library Science from Simmons College and a Bachelor of Arts in Medieval English History from The College of William & Mary. She is a member of and transcriber for the Dzogchen Foundation. She looks forward to penning a second book.
