Rinna B. Flohr Recognized for Excellence in Gallery Management
Rinna B. Flohr selected for inclusion in Cambridge Publishing's "Top 101 Industry Experts" book
BERKELEY, CA, February 2, 2010 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Rinna B. Flohr, Mental Health Managed Care Consultant, and Owner and Director of Expressions Gallery, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in gallery management.
Rinna B. Flohr has 38 years of professional experience and proudly walks two distinct career paths - one in the arts and the other in mental health. She notes that she became involved in mental health after receiving her bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts at Syracuse University. She studied psychodrama at the Moreno Institute of Psychodrama and began working closely with the Association of Retarded Citizens using drama and psychodrama to help individuals learn through role playing skills for everyday living. She became interested in psychology as a result and went on to receive her Master's Degree and License as a Licensed MSW. As a mental health professional, she worked with over 3,500 clients and later administered and advised organizations regarding the administration of large forensic and mental health programs. Following many years of experience in mental health services and administration, she returned to the arts in 1991, after the loss of her home to the Oakland Firestorm. During the rebuilding process, she realized that she required more information about architecture and interior design. This realization spurred her on to enroll in design classes with UC Berkeley Extension where she received a certificate in interior architecture and design. She retired from the City and County of San Francisco in 2006 and now runs Expressions Gallery, does interior design and consults in the Mental Health Field. Ms. Flohr has also exhibited her jewelry and floral art at the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery in San Francisco, the Giorgi Gallery in Berkeley, Expressions Gallery in Berkeley and the Legion of Honor Museum as part of the Bouquets to Art Show.
Ms. Flohr attributes her success to her passion and desire to learn. Among her many accomplishments, a few stand out as being particularly gratifying for her. Firstly, the leadership she was able to provide in the mental health field in San Francisco, specifically as the director of the Center for Special Problems, which worked with victims of violence, sex and drug abuse, as well as gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals struggling with psychological problems. Secondly, as Assistant Director of Mental Health for Behavioral Health Services, where she played a role in the development of the Private Provider Network (PPN) in San Francisco, a network of psychotherapists who work with the poor and third, starting and running Expressions Gallery, a fine arts gallery, and Expressions Gallery Arts and Educational Center, Berkeley, CA. a non-profit organization focused on three objectives: providing art education to children and adults; assisting talented artists without means or computer knowledge to display their artwork; and to educate the public about various forms of art via public art shows and projects.
In recognition of excellence in her field, Ms. Flohr was recently selected for inclusion in Cambridge Publishing's "Top 101 Industry Experts" book. The Top Industry Experts reveal the objectives and triumphs prominent Cambridge members have achieved to gain success. Selected from more than 500,000 executives, professionals and entrepreneurs, these exemplary leaders stay at the top of their fields by possessing unique experience and wisdom, all the while exhibiting innovation in their work.
Ms. Flohr holds a master's degree in social work from Syracuse University and a bachelor of arts in theater arts from Syracuse University. She received a certificate in interior architecture and design at the University of California, Berkeley and is a member of the local chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. She is the president and former assistant treasurer of the San Francisco Women Artists.
