Ms. Barker has 25 years of professional experience as an artist. She works primarily in 2 dimensions, concentrating mainly on abstract painting. She attributes her success to a work ethic that embraces research, intuition and integrity. Ms. Barker received her Master of Fine Arts degree from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles CA in 1988.
Her current paintings focus on the healing spirit of plants. She studies a plant's background and history to cultivate and abstract the deepest understanding and appreciation of her subject. In the past five years Ms Barker has concentrated on developing a series on spices, which have been of particular interest because of their healing properties and historic significance. Through the centuries various cultures have explored, exploited and ultimately settled new lands to acquire these precious commodities. Ms. Barker has been shown and collected internationally.
