Rosalind E. Cazares Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Business Management
Rosalind E. Cazares brings her business savvy to a restaurant, a retail store, and a recording company
HERRIMAN, UT, June 14, 2010 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Rosalind E. Cazares, Owner of Mama's Plantation, Rozie's Balloons & Flowers, and Mama's Gospel Records, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in business management.
A savvy and tenacious entrepreneur, Rosalind E. Cazares is proud to have successfully incorporated no less than three black-owned businesses in the state of Utah. She owns and operates Mama's Plantation, a restaurant; Rozie's Balloons & Flowers, a retail store; and Mama's Gospel Records, a recording company. Gifted in many areas, she oversees operations, finances and staffing for all three enterprises, as well as cooking her famous sweet potato pies for the restaurant.
Mrs. Cazares is passionate about gospel music, a passion she developed from working alongside her mother, the late Dr. Rosemary Cosby, known fondly by all as Mama. Mama was the overseer and founder of Faith Temple Pentecostal Churches 1 and 2; both institutions were inherited by Rosalind, which she renamed Mama's Temple Church. Mrs. Cazares and her husband Mark are Co-Pastor's of Mama's Temple Church, continuing the legacy her mother worked hard to make reality. Under Rosalind's tutelage, the church choir achieved numerous recognitions, the most notable of which was sharing a stage with Reba McEntire at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. A respected church and community leader, Mrs. Cazares derives personal satisfaction from following in the footsteps of her mother, the influential figure after whom two of her three businesses are named.
Mrs. Cazares' business, originally Rozie's Balloons and Flowers and Vocal Lessons was started in Indianapolis in 1989, it was named through the nickname "Rozie" her mother gave to her. Both sides of her business, the flower shop as well as the vocal lessons were very successful (at the time, Mrs. Cazares had 300 vocal students). In 1992 Mrs. Cazares moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah, after her mother asked her to direct her choir in her stead. The 17 voice chorale and 40 voice ensemble grew to over 250 voices under Mrs. Cazares' dynamic direction.
Seeing the toll the two businesses were having on her daughter, Mama asked Rosalind to choose between the flower shop and the vocal lessons. Mrs. Cazares chose to continue Rozie's Balloons & Flowers and discontinue doing vocal lessons full-time. She instead chose to only train the choir members in her spare time. After she made the decision, her mother said, "Oh, I was shocked you chose Rozie's Balloons & Flowers." Knowing her daughter's heart, her mother knew Rosalind loved training voices. Mrs. Cazares continued the businesses that her mother founded to maintain her mother's legacy. Mrs. Cazares is proud of the history behind everything she does. Honored with a key to Salt Lake City for her achievements as a businesswoman, she attributes her success to her faith and self-motivation.
Mrs. Cazares earned an associate degree in business in 1977 from Utah Technical College (now Salt Lake Community College). She holds a ministry of music license and became an ordained minister in 1997 through The Contenders of the Faith of Jesus Christ. A member of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, Mrs. Cazares looks forward to establishing more businesses.
