Cordelia 'Cordy' E. Lougheed Celebrated for Professional Longevity
Cordy is the author of "Tales of the Magpie"
SANTA FE, NM, August 03, 2010 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Cordelia 'Cordy' E. Lougheed, Author, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Writing. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities.
In an exclusive interview with Cambridge Publishing, Cordelia 'Cordy' E. Lougheed noted that she began writing at an early age. Following her marriage and relocation to Connecticut from St. Croix, she developed asthma and had trouble sleeping. She recalls devising rhymes to occupy her restless mind, which she would jot down in the morning. Since then, Mrs. Lougheed has written a total of 61 stories, including her published children's books entitled 'Tales of the Magpie' (Outskirts Press) and 'Short Stories for a Rainy Afternoon' (Sunstone Press).
Aside from her love of the written word, Mrs. Lougheed has always maintained an interest in photography. Her inspiration and vision, she says, comes from her late husband, Robert Lougheed, a renowned artist. She traveled with him on numerous painting trips to Canada and Europe where she was exposed to many different forms of art. Now she enjoys photographing a myriad of subjects from flowers to animals and Western landscapes to historical events such as reenactments of the Civil War. Mrs. Lougheed works diligently to transform her pictures into cards for her friends and associates.
Mrs. Lougheed was affiliated with a number of camera clubs in Connecticut and the Virgin Islands, and is a member of the Astronomy Club of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Looking to the future, she intends to explore new forms of photography and continue writing.
