FRANKLIN, MA, September 25, 2011 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- The Woodshed Gallery in Franklin, MA (Metro West Boston) is hosting a reception for it's first photography show on Saturday, October 1, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. The reception is open to the public. It celebrates the group exhibition of original fine art photographs by local artists Rebecca Skinner and Dale Hoopingarner of Franklin, Kevin Umlauf of Bellingham and Dennis Stein of Medfield. The exhibition is on display from September 27 - October 29, 2011.
The four artists chosen for this exhibition all work with color digital photography, and have developed individually recognizable styles. Rebecca Skinner produces romanticized and nostalgic glimpses of old New England farms. Her photos are highly saturated with color and show a bond with traditional realism.
Kevin Umlauf's photographs include light-filled and hazy views of familiar coastal scenes, evoking idealized memories.
Dennis Stein brings a contemporary artistic sensibility to his compositions, using restrained color and blurred details to draw viewers into scenes which often have a mysterious quality.
Dale Hoopingarner distinguishes his work by not using a camera. His digital images are captured by scanning objects (scanning devices are commonly referred to as office "copiers"). The scanning process gives the images incredible clarity, as well as unexpected, shallow depth.
This is The Woodshed Gallery's first exhibition devoted solely to photography. It is part of a Woodshed Gallery program designed to help artists take control of their presentations and advance their careers.
The Woodshed Gallery was founded by professional artist Angelina Wood in 1968, and continues to be a family-run business. They specialize in conservation picture framing and the exhibition of original fine art. The Woodshed Gallery also shows a selection of hand-crafted jewelry and fashion accessories.
The Woodshed Gallery is located at 1243 Pond Street, Franklin, MA, near the Medway border. Gallery hours are Tuesdays thru Fridays, 10AM-5PM, Saturdays 10AM-3PM.
