Amazing Artist Is A Colorful Addition To Stanford Who's Who
Shirl Hathaway has been accepted among the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who's Who as a result of her sensational effort in the Arts.
MACOMB, MI, January 15, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Shirl Hathaway has been accepted among the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who's Who as a result of her sensational effort in the Arts. As a Watercolor Artist for the past 40 years, Shirl has consistently displayed the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.
Ms. Hathaway is an incredible painter who lists color, movement and texture as the primary concerns in the majority of her work. Although her paintings are considered abstract in concept, many galleries consider her work as "Romantic." Most of Shirl's work is based on water, sky movements, waterfalls, and rocks observed from actual trips in her life as a sailor. It takes on a certain feeling of being lost in space or perhaps feeling insignificant in a sailboat against the endless skies and ocean. Some of her later work is based on laser lights beaming across the clouds as remembered from outdoor laser light shows.
During her educational career, Shirl earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts as well as a Master's degree in Art Education from Wayne State University. She also studied Human Relations and Public Speaking at the Dale Carnegie Institute. In addition to her painting, Shirl works as an Art Instructor for Fox Elementary School and Wayne State University. She has also been the owner of Hathaway Originals since 1975.
Shirl is a member of the Michigan Art Education Association, American Watercolor Society, Michigan Watercolor Society, Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors Association, Gross Point Art Association, Detroit Institute of Art Founders Society, Michigan Guild of Artists, Wayne State University Alumni Association, Sailing Singles, Summerset Ski and Golf Club, Michigan Swing and Hustle Dance Association, and the Warren Society of Art.
