Helen M. Chigaros, RN, MSN, CCRN, APRN, FCN, Recognized for Dedication to Nonprofit Outreach

Helen Chigaros directs a nonprofit clinic and has co-authored two nursing workbooks

    KANKAKEE, IL, July 26, 2011 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Helen M. Chigaros, RN, MSN, CRRN, APRN, FCN, Co-Founding Parish Nurse of the Parish Nurse Network of the Kankakee River Valley and Clinic Director of Azzarelli Outreach Clinic, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nonprofit outreach.

Ms. Chigaros, whose many professional credentials include that of faith community nurse, has contributed 44 years to the fields of nursing and community outreach. As a co-founding parish nurse of the Parish Nurse Network of the Kankakee River Valley, she organizes initiatives for nurses in the community who are interested in addressing their patients' spiritual health as well as their physical health concerns. As clinic director of the Azzarelli Outreach Clinic, she likewise helps nurses use their Christian faith and patience, along with their nursing skills, in providing spiritually integrated care for uninsured and under-insured patients. As part of her commitment to nursing, Ms. Chigaros travels to England annually with a group of emerging nurses so that her younger colleagues can learn about Florence Nightingale's roots and reclaim nursing's heritage of healing.

Ms. Chigaros, was honored as a Professional of the Year in Nonprofit Outreach in 2007 by Cambridge Who's Who. She holds a Master of Science in nursing, with a concentration in community health, which she earned from Saint Xavier University, along with a bachelor's degree in health from Saint Francis University. In addition to being a registered nurse and faith community nurse, she is certified in rehabilitation nursing and advanced practice. Ms. Chigaros volunteers for the American Red Cross and the Alzheimer's Association and maintains affiliations with Sigma Theta Tau International and the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses.

When she is away from her professional duties, Ms. Chigaros enjoys writing, and she has co-authored two books, "Mosby's Workbook for Long-Term Care Nursing Assistants" and "Mosby's Workbook for Nursing Assistants." Known for her pleasant nature and love for her work, she spends as much time with her family as she can.
