For More than 30 Years, Ms. Solcyk has Poured Hard Work and Passion into Her Painting

CHATSWORTH, CA, August 29, 2011 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Phyllis Solcyk, a self-employed artist, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Fine Art. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. Ms. Solcyk became involved in her profession after receiving a scholarship to attend the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. She has been painting for 30 years and teaching art at local colleges and art schools for 25 years. Her paintings can be found in public and private collections in both Europe and the United States, as well as the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress. She is best known for her watercolor portraits, landscapes and seascapes. Ms. Solcyk previously spent 12 years in the aerospace industry; work she found truly fascinating and challenging. Before that, she worked on several major animated films and some early TV programs while with Disney Studio in Burbank, Calif.

Ms. Solcyk, is a former president of the National Watercolor Society and a member of the Valley Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, California Art Club, American Society of Marine Artists, Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Watercolor West, Women Painters West, and the International Society of Marine Painters.
