Susan Fisher Selected as a VIP of the Year for Excellence in Fine Art

Ms. Fisher works with hot beeswax encaustic paints to create distinctive landscape paintings and photo collage works

PETERBOROUGH, ON, CANADA, August 5, 2011 /Art and Artists PR News/ -- Susan Fisher, Owner of Fluid Studio, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in fine art and education.

"I explore themes which embrace the dynamics of how we define and perceive reality experienced along a continuum of past-present-future," states Ms. Fisher on her website, www.fisherencaustic.com. An artist with more than two decades of experience, she owns Fluid Studio, where she functions as an instructor and exhibiting artist. She works with a unique wax-based medium, encaustic, which enables her to create distinctive paintings and photo collage works. A certified encaustic instructor who trained in Kingston, N.Y. at R&F Handmade Paints, Ms. Fisher teaches safe techniques of encaustic painting to individuals and small groups. She counts among her greatest achievements being one of five Canadian artists who were invited to an annual show in Sagamihara, Japan. In recognition of her work, Ms. Fisher was recently honored as a VIP member of Cambridge Who's Who.

In 1974, Ms. Fisher was awarded a Greenshields Scholarship in the Visual Arts by Concordia University, where she earned an Honors Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphics and sculpture. In 1986, she pursued a fellowship at Trent University, where she earned a master's degree in art history and anthropology. She holds a postgraduate diploma in art education as well. Ms. Fisher received a grant from the Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Association in 1988. In addition to being passionate about her work, she is an active member of her community; she has been recognized with the Peterborough Civic Volunteer Award and a Five-Year Volunteer Service Award.
